Setting the scene

EAST MOLESEY has such a relaxed vibe that it’s hard to believe it’s only 15 miles from central London. It’s perched on the River Thames, with Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace across the bridge and the green oasis of Bushy Park close by. Tourists (over 930,000 per year) contribute to the holiday atmosphere but don’t tend to venture far from the Palace, and the area’s residential streets are tranquil. Local schools are good, and there’s an easy commute from Hampton Court station into central London.

Imber Riverside, pictured, is a collection of three, four and five-bed houses from Cala Homes, bordering the River Ember, which links the Thames with a series of redundant reservoirs. Located about 10 minutes’ walk from the station, they feature open-plan kitchens with stone worktops and integrated Siemens appliances, separate utility rooms, Sonos music systems with ceiling speakers in living areas and master bedrooms. Prices are from £775,000 for a three-bed, semi-detached house with a kitchen/breakfast room and garden room, up to £1.195million for a five-bed, three-storey detached house. Buyers have a wide variety of properties to choose from. ‘There are large detached Victorian villas on Wolsey, Palace and Arnison roads, period cottages and newer developments on the river. ‘The East Molesey market has seen significant increases over the last 10 years and has outperformed other areas close by. This is driven mainly by limited stock and the trend factor kicking in since the Olympic Road Race and medal presentation at Hampton Court.’ Prices range from £300,000 for a starter flat to over £1.5million for a big family house.
